Tubular Plug Heaters are Cleaning Up

Opportunity:

Replacing a Chromalox^® flange heater.

Problem:

The customer is a pump manufacturer who cleans parts with 190°F water. The parts are assembly parts for the pumps. They were using a 5" 150-lb flange from Chromalox^®.

Solution:

We replaced the Chromalox^® heater with a 2 ½ in. stainless steel screw plug, Incoloy sheath, 480V, 38 kW, 90 W/in². We replaced it with a shorter B dimension (33 in.) quicker delivery and a smaller mounting fitting. The customer made an adapter to fit the 2 ½ in. screw plug in place of the 5 in. flange.
