Multicell Heaters Simulate Rocket Exhaust-- Provide Long Life At High Temperatures
Problem:
An aircraft/aerospace manufacturer required 2000°F (1090°C) hot gas to simulate the thrust from a rocket motor. Most hot gas generating systems were only able to achieve temperatures of 1200°F (650°C) continuously.
Solution:
Watlow was able to build the customer a system that produced the required high temperature by utilizing the capabilities of the multicell as its heat source. The system utilized a 1200°F (650°C) high pressure gas pre-heater, also built by Watlow, with a final nozzle temperature of 2000°F (1090°C). The system has been used over ten years without a single heater failure.
