Mineral Insulated Thermocouples Make High Temperature Aerospace Heat Treating Successful
Problem:
An aircraft/aerospace manufacturer required a high temperature thermocouple to be used for heat treating engine components. The thermocouple needed to be flexible and easy to route through the furnace wall. In addition, it would be used at temperatures near 2100°F (1150°C).
Solution:
Watlow successfully designed a Style AC thermocouple meeting their specifications using 0.063-inch (1.6 mm) diameter, Alloy 600 sheath and 99.4 percent pure MgO insulation material. They can now accurately measure temperatures in excess of 2000°F (1090°C) consistently, ensuring long term reliability.
