MI Strip Heaters Deliver Long Life and Better Performance
Problem:
A wave soldering equipment manufacturer was constantly replacing failed mica strip heaters. The heaters were stressed to performance limits while trying to maintain a minimum 600°F (315°C) temperature under increasing production loads.
Solution:
Watlow's MI strip heaters cut the manufacturer's costs attributed to frequent downtime. The high thermal conductivity of the MI strip heater's mineral insulation provides watt density capabilities to 100 W/in2 (15.5 W/cm2) and so easily allowed the manufacturer to raise the required watt density to 65 W/in2 (10 W/cm2). This improved heater performance and enabled the manufacturer to maintain higher temperatures under varying loads.
