Heater On Angle of Attack Sensing System
Problem:
A pilot needs to know his position relative to the ground (the angle of attack). To do this, a transmitter is attached near the leading edge of the wing; the air stream's angle of incidence moves the probe causing the transmitter to signal an indicator in the cockpit (showing the pilot the aircraft attitude). This sensor must remain free of ice for proper operation.
Solution:
A 0.125-inch (3 mm) diameter FIREROD® heater silver brazed into the small area of the probe to act as a de-icer.
