375 Finned Strip Heaters Deliver Hot Cash

Problem:

A manufacturer of point of sale computer terminals developed an automatic credit card terminal for the petroleum industry that is mounted outdoors right at the gas pump island. Due to extremes in temperature that these terminals can be exposed to, heaters were required to keep the electronics, as well as the printer mechanism above 40°F (4.4°C) to ensure reliable operation.

Solution:

Two Watlow 375 finned strip heaters are mounted horizontally, one above the other, with a fan blowing air directly on the fins and circulating the air throughout the interior of the cabinet. The fin strip heaters were selected as a cost-effective solution.
