Pressurizer heaters are used in the pressurizer, which is located in the Reactor Coolant System (RCS). The liquid in a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) must remain in a liquid state at all times. To achieve this, the pressurizer heater maintains a pressure sufficiently high that boiling does not occur while the plant is operating.
