Diesel Emissions
Watlow provides proven thermal technology, combined with extensive application knowledge that enables engine OEMs to optimize the performance of the engine and aftertreatment system to increase fuel economy, reduce cost and improve emissions performance.
Thermal Solutions
Watlow has been a part of the Diesel industry for over 35 years. Our thermal expertise is leveraged by industry-leading OEMs to increase fuel economy and reduce CO₂ emissions, reduce the size and cost of the aftertreatment system and improve emissions performance under a full range of operating conditions.
Our thermal management solutions are focused on small to mid-sized engines and high horse power engines where ample electrical power is available to create and direct heat where it is needed most; within the aftertreatment system. These solutions enable the diesel engine OEM to optimize the engine's performance for fuel efficiency, and provide a path to avoid or eliminate EGR and use a less complex turbocharger. Diesel engines of all sizes driving gensets, rail, marine, construction, agriculture and medium and heavy duty vehicles have leveraged our technology.
Engineering Expertise
Watlow’s team of engineers and technicians have deep industry knowledge of engine technology, aftertreatment systems, and the application environments. This provides Watlow with a unique vantage point from which we can leverage our thermal expertise to deliver high performing solutions. Given this market advantage Watlow has been invited to present our research, case studies and insights at many of the industry’s largest events including the SAE World Congress and other technical conferences. We are also a member of FAD, the Research Association for Diesel Emission Control Technologies based in Dresden, Germany.
The World's Largest Companies Start with Watlow
Many of the world’s largest diesel engine OEMs are leveraging Watlow technology today. Long standing relationships within these demanding industry leaders serves as a testament to Watlow’s commitment to consistently meeting the needs of our customers with breakthrough products and solutions.
EXACTSENSE® Active Sensor
To meet the high temperature measurement needs of today’s modern diesel engines and aftertreatment systems, Watlow was the first company to introduce an active high temperature thermocouple to the industry. Our EXACTSENSE® active sensors provide the accuracy, response time and durability required to assure precise and reliable high temperature measurement with low drift throughout the life of your aftertreatment system. A study performed by FEV showed that our highly accurate temperature sensors can actually help save fuel during DPF regeneration, bringing value to the end user. EXACTSENSE® technology is designed to meet demanding global emission requirements for over-the-road medium and heavy-duty vehicles and off-road construction, mining, agriculture, marine and locomotive equipment.
Quality Systems and Experience
Watlow products have been synonymous with quality from the start. We meet all quality management systems and certifications required within the diesel engine industry ensuring that our products will perform as designed within the most demanding environments. Our portfolio of certifications include:
ISO/TS1649 – applying to the design/development, production and, when relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products
IOS 9001 – is the internationally recognized standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS).
ISO 14001 (Richmond) - Environment Management System (EMS) standard is an internationally recognized environmental management standard
