Plasmatech GmbH Celebrates 20 Years

his year, Watlow® Plasmatech GmbH, also known as TDC Kuchl (Technology and Development Center), proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary — a milestone that honors two decades of technological innovation, growth, and unwavering dedication to excellence in advanced thermal solutions.

Located in Kuchl, Austria, the site has grown to become one of Watlow’s most dynamic and successful locations in the region. Originally founded when Watlow acquired the assets and intellectual property of RHV Heizsysteme GmbH in 2005, the facility was quickly transformed into a center of innovation and renamed Watlow Plasmatech GmbH.

To mark this important occasion, the Wirtschaftskammer Salzburg (Chamber of Commerce Salzburg) recognized the company with a special award, highlighting its outstanding contributions to the local economy and its role as a key innovator in the region’s industry.

Today, the Kuchl site plays a dual role within Watlow’s global network — as the Plasma Spray Value Stream Hub and the European Thermal System Solution Center. It stands at the forefront of advanced surface coating technologies and serves as a critical production site for Watlow’s FLUENT® Heater engines, a breakthrough innovation supporting high-tech industries such as semiconductors and life sciences.

Guided by Site Manager Martin Wallinger, the talented 20-member team is composed of application and development engineers, system designers, operators, and support staff across finance, marketing, and IT. This tight-knit, multidisciplinary group embodies the values of innovation, quality, and teamwork that have defined the Kuchl site from the beginning.

Reflecting on the team’s success, Martin Wallinger shared:
